Weekly Photo Challenge – Growth
These white storks arrive in Selçuk each year in March, and after raising their young here, the family flies back to South Africa in September. I use the term ‘fly’ but am told that these storks are masters at catching thermal air currents rising up from land mass. They ride these ‘waves’ and rarely actually flap their wings during their 4,000 mile migration. Local Turks say that if you see a stork on your first trip to Turkey you are to live in happines the rest of your life!

Pretty cool about the thermal air currents. Thanks!

Wonderful! How did you get this shot?
Thanks from a balcony at the hotel across the way. The storks nest on every available spot all over the town.
Was it your first trip? Fantastic shot- how is your year going? : )
This wasn’t on my first trip no but I live here have been here for almost 12 yrs now. One of my favourite pass times is to sit and watch the storks come and go, with my camera in hand
So your luck must have improved vastly!!
